Whitefish Mountain Resort (formerly Big Mountain Resort) has been one of America's favorite destinations for good times, good people and good snow since 1947. Rising above the historic railroad town of Whitefish, the resort has gained notoriety for its laid-back vibe, world-class skiing and spectacular summer recreation. The resort's slopes fan out to more than 3,000 acres and receive more than 300 inches of average snowfall. | Well, the 2008-2009 ski season has drawn to a close, and quite a close it was: nearly 4 feet of unseasonably perfect powder in the last two weeks, and two amazing sunny days for the Pond Skim and closing weekend.Thank you to everyone who supported us this winter. Without you - our pass holders, destination visitors, and everyone in between - Whitefish Mountan Resort would be just a big empty pile of [deep, perfect, Rocky Mountain] snow.Be sure to come see us this summer. We're opening a pretty amazing new 2-hour zip line tour (50 mph+, more than 100 feet off the ground, and some side-by-side action), a new alpine slide on the Chair 6 slope, and expanding our downhill and beginner mountain biking terrain.Okay, that's it. Location & Getting Here:
Whitefish Mountain Resort is located 8 miles north of Whitefish, 23 miles north of Kalispell, in northwest Montana. Glacier Park International Airport is served daily by flights from Salt Lake City (Delta), Minneapolis (Northwest), Seattle (Alaska/Horizon), and Denver (United). Shuttle service and car rentals are available at the airport. The Historic Whitefish Depot is served daily by rail (Amtrak) from Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis and Chicago and points in between.
